Somerset have secured the services of head coach Jason Kerr for the long term, with the former county all-rounder putting pen to paper on a two-year extension that will see him remain at the County Ground until at least the conclusion of the 2028 campaign. The announcement comes as the club continues to build on recent successes and establishes stability in their coaching structure.
Trophy Cabinet Continues to Grow
Since taking the helm in 2018, the 52-year-old has transformed Somerset into one of the most consistent performers across all formats. His tenure has yielded three major titles, including victories in the 2019 One-Day Cup and back-to-back Vitality Blast triumphs in 2023 and 2025. Last season saw his charges secure third position in Division One of the County Championship, maintaining their status amongst cricket's elite whilst developing a squad built predominantly on homegrown talent.
The betting markets have reflected Somerset's consistency under Kerr's guidance, with the county regularly featuring amongst the favourites for limited-overs competitions. Their recent success has shifted the odds considerably, particularly in T20 cricket where they've established themselves as genuine contenders.

The current campaign has begun encouragingly, with Somerset remaining unbeaten through their opening three County Championship fixtures. Two victories and a draw have positioned them second in the table, trailing only Warwickshire who hold a game in hand.
