Shane Edward Bond emerged as one of New Zealand's most potent fast bowlers during the early 2000s, renowned for his express pace and ability to trouble world-class batsmen. Despite a career hampered by persistent injuries, Bond's impact on international cricket was significant, particularly in limited-overs formats where his aggressive bowling style proved highly effective. Bond's Test career, though brief at just 7 matches, showcased his exceptional talent with 43 wickets at an impressive average of 18.37. His ODI record was equally remarkable, claiming 107 wickets in 60 matches at 21.59, establishing him as a feared opponent in white-ball cricket. Known for his ability to generate steep bounce and swing at speeds exceeding 150 km/h, Bond was particularly effective with the new ball and during death overs. His career was unfortunately curtailed by recurring back and abdominal injuries that limited his availability for selection. Despite these setbacks, Bond's brief but impactful international career left a lasting impression on New Zealand cricket, and he remains remembered as one of the country's finest fast bowlers of the modern era.
