Younis Khan was one of Pakistan's most accomplished Test batsmen, establishing himself as a cornerstone of the national team's middle order for over a decade. Born in Mardan, he made his international debut in 2000 and went on to become Pakistan's leading run-scorer in Test cricket. His exceptional Test average of 54.05 from 81 matches, accumulating 7,135 runs, places him among the elite batsmen of his generation. Known for his solid technique and mental fortitude, Younis was particularly effective in challenging conditions and played crucial innings in Pakistan's overseas victories. He captained Pakistan in all three formats and was instrumental in several memorable series wins. His most notable achievement came as captain when he led Pakistan to victory in the 2009 ICC World T20, Pakistan's first major ICC trophy since 1992. While his limited-overs record was more modest, his Test performances, including multiple double centuries and consistent run-scoring against top opposition, cemented his legacy as one of Pakistan's greatest Test batsmen.
